Miracle of the Week!

HELLO from Top City!

This week has just gone by so fast! So one quick miracle that has happened this week. We got a referral from Church headquarters and someone wanted a bible. So we get a bible, call her and set an appointment to drop it by. We show up to her house and she answers the door and turns out her husband is a less active member (who hasn't been in years) and she was way interested. We were able to share the first vision with her and she was super excited about it. I love sharing the first vision. EVERY SINGLE TIME the spirit is just over powering.

We have a baptism this week. The guy that we met like three weeks ago is going to be baptized. Although we have only known him for a super short time he has learned so much and I have been able to see how much the gospel really can change a life! What a great guy and such a wonderful miracle from God. GOD IS REAL!

Love every second out here and love all of you!

Biking Through Topeka

This week was so much fun and had a lot of funny stories but also tons of miracles! So this week was the first time that we were on bikes here in Topeka. So the first day we were on bikes we realized we didn't have helmets so we had to walk which we quickly realized takes about an hour to get to the place that we are supposed to be and we had an appt at 4 and it was already 3:15 so we were like running around down town Topeka trying to get to our appointment. We ended up being like thirty minutes late, but on the upside we were able to have a REALLY good lesson. Miracles!

Then the next day we get the bikes and helmets and set out. We do most of our work in down town Topeka kind of next to the capital building (for those of you who know anything about Topeka haha) so we ride down there and we get there in like 10 minutes which was way nice. We get there and realize that we are an hour early for our appointment. (We're not always this time inefficient I promise.) So we decide to go and visit a Less Active member that lived in the area. We rode over there and she wasn't home. So we decided that we would just be a little early to the appointment and if we had to make some calls outside. As soon as we get on the bikes to leave, Elder Ives bike tire pops and goes COMPLETELY FLAT! haha so we run our bikes to the next appointment. about half way there we realized that Elder Ives had left his backpack back at the Less Active's house. So we run back to the apartment and run back to the appointment. We got there right on time but we were way out of breath and realized that we had just ran around down town like maniacs (because we were in trench coats and helmets)  trying to get to this one appointment. It was super fun and will definitly be a good memory but hopefully not something that will continue to happen.

After that the week went pretty smooth and we were able to get to everywhere we needed to be. Last week we had met James who had came from the Family History Center. He has kept every commitment we have extended and told us that he knows that the Book of Mormon is true and he really wants to be baptized! He's such a great guy and has really just loved Church the past couple weeks!

Fun Fact! We also found out that the Westboro Baptist Church is in our boundaries and we were able to ride by a couple of times. We see them picketing all over town.

Love all of you!

Milagros Por Dias!

I think that's how you say miracles for days in Spanish. Good think I'm an English missionary. That would be bad new bears if I had to learn another language. But there were so many great things that happened this week. The biggest came every time we tried to weekly plan. So every Wednesday we sit down and plan for like 3 hours about what we need to get done the next week. and it's a big chunk of time but really effective if you do it right. So we sit down on Wednesday to plan and we get a call asking for us to go give a blessing. So we left right away and we didn't have a car so we got picked up but we had to walk home (which was fine because all the people we needed to see was down by the hospital). The blessing was cool, because if we had gotten there any later then she would have left because she was being transferred to Lawrence. So that was Miracle in and of itself.

Then Thursday comes around. We sit down to plan. and thirty minutes into it we get a call from the Zone Leaders. They tell us there is this man that is at the church and wants to learn more. So we get to the church in record time (because lets be honest. how many times does someone just show up on your doorstep that wants to be taught... it happens but not very often) Turns out the guy is super into Family History but the center wasn't opened. But we taught him the first lesson and the spirit was just super strong. and he felt it and identified it and it was awesome! He came to church this week and really enjoyed it. He's a great guy.

Then Friday we tried to plan again but we got called to give another blessing at the hospital. Super cool guy we had never met before. He was a less active member but came to church this week! Super awesome miracles are happening here in Kansas. Love it! However, we never fully finished our weekly planning but we got what we needed done. So it all works out! Heavenly Father really does work in his own time!

Another funny story. We were stopping by one of our investigators and her friend is getting out of the car. so Elder Ives starts talking to her and I start talking to the husband. I teach him a brief version the restoration and extend the commitment to read and pray about it and he says "No.. I'll take your word for it" so I was kind of like taken aback and then I say "wait do you believe it's true" and he was like "Yeah, don't really see why you would lie about that" haha he was pretty cool. We haven't seen him again but we'll keep trying.

This week we went out a team ups with a priest in our ward. He was such an awesome guy and super powerful testimony! He loved it and we just had such a fun time. We jammed out to Diddly Wack Mack Mormon Daddy in the car driving him home. He loved it. haha We are also the YSA elders here in Topeka so we are working with them. It's so different but so much fun!

Love you all!

New Years Miracles!

So this week has been super awesome (like every other week so far). We just got the Transfer list and I'm staying in Topeka so that's kinda nice also weird staying so long in one area. haha. The ward here is just super awesome. There is so many nice people here that just want to help you and it makes life awesome! It snowed this week, but only about an inch and a half so nothing to bad. This winter still has nothing on the winter at Idaho last year, which is great. However I am getting nervous for those tornadoes coming up haha

We have seen a lot of miracles happen in our area this week. We have been able to find a few investigators that are really awesome people and a few of them came to church this week. We were able to feel the spirit really strong in a couple of our lessons. We also went on Exchanges this week for like 3 days and traded off companions each per day. It was really fun to be able to work with other missionaries in our zone.

Right now we are heading out to the Rock Chalk gym in Lawrence for our Pday so I gotta make this pretty short! But life is great here in Kansas! Love it!

Love you all!

I'm still here in Topeka and we just got the Transfer doctrine and I'm staying with Elder Ives but who knows they sure do know how to keep someone on their toes. haha we have a couple of investigators and a couple of them are preparing of Baptism but they aren't super solid but we will keep working with them for a while. We have this recent convert (got baptized like last year) and we met his wife but apparently he is in jail right now... sooo we are going to visit him in jail today with the wife and hopefully he will encourage her to get baptized. but also the house where they live has like 20 people living in it occasionally so everytime we go over we meet someone else. also the house is GROSS. like bugs everywhere... and bed bugs and it smells HORRIBLE. SO i just don't understand how people can live like that at all. but hey its all good. hopefully we don't get bed bugs. haha The ward is awesome! There hasn't been missionaries that have done anything in a while so they all are relieved when we actually go and do something.
