Gone Fishin' ‏

So this week has been one of the best weeks of my mission. It's been
awesome! After everything got settled down from the emergency transfer
and update. I'm not in a trip anymore. That guy went down to Wichita
area so it's all good now! We went on a few exchanges with people from
the zone. We got to drive down to junction city like everyday so that
was crazy. Lots of driving. We went on an exchange with missionaries
down in Salina and we had to meet in Abilene which is like a 45 min
drive. But it's been fun!

The best part of the week was definitely when I got to drive to Topeka
and see someone I taught there get baptized. It is so amazing to see
the change that has taken place. I remember when I first talked to him
we left the lesson and I turned to my companion and said "he's getting
baptized" that was back in March. A lot happened since then but he
called the missionaries a couple weeks ago and said that he had fasted
and gotten an answer this the needed to be baptized so I drove down
there because I love that guy. One of the best feelings in the world.
I love it so much, makes everything worth it, all the hard times and
the ups and downs so worth it!

This week is going to be crazy! We have meetings pretty much every
single day and we are going to the temple tomorrow! So excited for
that you have no idea. It's gonna be an amazing week!

Love you all.

A Series of (un)Fortunate Events

So this week was a pretty crazy week filled with ups and downs and
sides to sides. So much has happened in so little time. But it's great
because it's the lords work and it will still move toward no matter
what crazy things comes up. So the beginning of our tale starts way
back to last Monday. We have these Monday night calls where we do some
accounting to President Bell and we were informed that we needed to go
on a week long exchange with a companionship in the zone. By the way
week long exchanges are pretty uncommon, and definitely the longest
I've ever done. So we finish the call and head to bed, we go to
district meeting and inform the companionship we were going on a week
long exchange. It was pretty stressful because I stayed in my area and
I really have no idea how to get places so I'm pretty sure like half
of our miles were used on u turns and wrong turns. But that's pretty
normal.

We also had interviews this week with president bell and let me tell
you something, I love that man so much! I wish my interview could have
been ten times longer. It was so amazing. He is so inspired and is
just the best person ever. Plus we are the same height and we always
talk about how it's perfect hhahha

We switch half way through the week and I go to the other area to work
there for a little bit with the other missionary who is awesome! We
had a great time and saw so many miracles! On Saturdays afternoon I
had a realization that I had been asked to give a talk in sacrament
meeting in my ward. So I prepared for that and switched back for the
hour so that I could give my talk. This is where a miracle comes into
play. As I was up there I noticed these four guys that had walked in
that I didn't recognize (side note, school just started so there is a
lot of new students that moved back into the branch) and I felt the
need to basically share the entire restoration lesson and then tie it
into my topic. I shared the first vision and the spirit was so strong.
Afterwards I went up and introduced myself and they were all college
kids that weren't members and just Showed up! So grateful for that
miracle! And the plus side they are awesome and LOVED what was shared
about prophets and the Book of Mormon.

Then we switch back and we are at dinner, I get a call from my
companion informing me that he was getting emergency transferred and
that I was getting a new companion. Nothing new that's happened to me
a bunch in my mission. Then we get another call informing us that one
of the elders we were exchanging with was leaving too and we were
going in an trio companionship. So this puts me at 12 companions in 11
months. It's been crazy but whatever I'm super excited! Something that
came to my head last night as I was praying. I was praying about ups
and downs and I came to the realization that because of the "ups" and
Christ the downs never have to be really down! I love that! I know
this is the Lords work and he's in control so we can know the downs
are never downs!

Choose Joy

This week has been so much fun and filled with a bunch of new things!
Monday we drove to Wichita and had a couple of meetings on Monday
night and then Tuesday we had this really long meeting from like 9-5.
It was a pretty intense but so awesome. Then we got home and just
worked hard.

We went on exchanged with other elders in the zone, I stayed in our
area and I just got here and didn't know where to drive but I found my
way around so that was good. We were about to stop for institute and
we saw these two guys walking past the institute so we ran and gave
them a card of Jesus. Turns out they were both from China, and
studying and KSU. We set a return appointment and departed ways. The
next day we went back and he was super excited to see us. He had put
the picture of Jesus above his bed so he could see it everyday. We sat
down and started talking and turns out he doesn't even have a
knowledge about God or Jesus. So we taught the very basic principles
and he prayed for the first time in his life! I think that might be my
favorite part of missionary work, is here people pray for the first
time. It's amazing. Anyways he came to church and preparing for
baptism! I love that even though he has such a little knowledge the
spirit still told him what we said was true.

Anyways I love the miracles that happen every single day. They really
do. Even the small things can change your day around! We have this
missionary in the mission that always says the phrase "choose joy" and
I love that! Joy is an choice and state of mind and even when things
get hard and tough and rough like life usually does you can still find
joy and choose to be happy. I love that phrase so much! Changed my
life!

Love you all! Thanks for the prayers and support!

If I've learned anything on my mission is it's all in gods timing, there is no point in stressing out about things because ultimately it's gods work and he'll make it work as long as you are doing everything you do, hats the kicker you gotta put in the effort. We are going to the temple on the first I am so excited. And I got some really good news, I have a few recent converts that got active all the sudden and looking really good for the temple some time soon. I'm so excited about that! I love missionary work. Idk if you got a letter or anything but I got called as a zone leader. It's super fun, so many meetings and meetings that you have to plan for. It's fun I love it. However some sisters are off there rocker some times. I don't know how to handle that, haha.

Manhattan is awesome, I haven't had a door slammed in my face for like 2 weeks straight. It's the best. All the kids are in this experimental phase which works on both the good and bad. Good they will talk about the gospel and try it out, bad it usually involves drugs or immortality. But it's whatever, the gospel is still true!

Anyways hope you're having a great time with life. I'm loving it, my companion is awesome, I love him. We laugh and have such a good time and we are just going ham here. I love it! My son that died is coming back next week so that's good.

Manhappenin!

Greetings from Kansas, (okay that looked a lot lamer then it did in my head)

This week has been good. A lot of change but hey change is a good
thing right? It started off with packing everything and continuing to
work two areas. We got to take out a new missionaries on Tuesday. It's
so much fun taking out the new guys, they are just filled with fire
and the obvious nervousness. It was really fun! It always takes me
back to when I was a new missionary and how I feel like it was
yesterday that I was brand new! And good thing I still am pretty new!

Then we had transfers! So many amazing missionaries went home, some of
my best friends I've made on my mission went home which was sad, but
they bore amazing testimonies. During the testimony President Bell
gave some opening remarks. He shared with us his favorite hymn, "How
Firm a Foundation" and how it should be our missions anthem because
it's all about the enabling power of the atonement. It's the best!
"When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply.
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, thy dross to consume,
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.
The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I cannot, desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, I’ll never, no never,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!"

Then I got to Manhattan which is a. Illegal town in central Kansas!
Kansas state! It's still summer right now so there isn't a bunch of
people but it'll start in the next couple of weeks! Super excited for
that. I love it here already! Younger people are just way fun to work
with and usually open to talking because they are a young and have
nothing better to do! It's super fun here and already having s blast.
So many cool miracles and small things that remind me that the we are
all loved and watched over by God!
Love you all!

Last pday

Our last district breakfast

Sis Domingo is a really good artist
Serving in a college ward is way fun, it's completely different then anything I have done in the last ten months but it's super fun! I love it already... It kinda feels like I am back in recharge, but not really because the amount of bars far exceeds Rexburg and the dress code just isn't the same, but other then that it's fun! We have church at an institute building which just looks like a house that was converted to a church building. It's actually really cool and they have a bunch of things YSA can do. So that's fun! There is this recent convert here that they found reacting like a month ago, he was like super into smoking and drinking and all that. He read the entire Book of Mormon, doctrine and covenants and decided to be baptized a week ago. So awesome! Like he changed everything in such a short time and he got the aaronic priesthood yesterday! It's so cool!

Fastest Week Of My Entire Life

So this week has been super crazy! On Tuesday my zone leader got
emergency transferred out to Garden City and left his companion alone
for the week, so we have been in a trio and trying to work both areas.
It's been super fun! I love both my companions right now. Also I have
been helping my new companion get to know the area because it was
hinted that I was leaving and he would need to get to know the area in
a couple days. So needless to say when you are constantly on the run
and trying to do everything you can it goes so fast!

So I am getting transferred! Going up to Manhattan Kansas! K state!
I'll be serving in the university ward up there and I'm so excited!
When I briefly served in the USA ward in Topeka I loved it and now I
get to be in a full time in a university ward! So excited for that!

This week has also been chalk full of miracles! Again another
testimony of the lord providing, he just always does and it's so
crazy! We went over to this former investigator that we never
officially dropped but just wasn't going anywhere wherever so we just
stopped going over. So we felt like we needed to go over and we did,
as we knocked this little girl told us to come in, which was a first!
And we walked in and she was super excited to see us and was happy to
talk to us and really wanted to learn! Then we went out with a member
for s return appointment and her husband was just as interested if no
more and it was awesome! And the member got super excited about
missionary work and it was just awesome!

This was a while ago, back when I was in Topeka. But I thought it was a pretty classy picture. Also I've kinda not been the best at sending home pictures so here ya go!Smiling face with smiling eyes

Cliche walking picture.

Ignore what we look like, elder Gardner couldn't take a picture right but I think I found my favorite sign.

Also, if you haven't heard the end of the world happened in Kansas this week.

We're pretty cool

Love you all so much!
