Greenie Miracles

So this week Elder Ives went home! It was sad to see him leave! I loved being his companion and it was always so much fun and we had so many good times and we're able to teach a lot and work really well together! But we drove down to Wichita this week and exchanged companions. My new companion is Elder Lee. He's a really great guy from Utah, (but also Washington and Canada so he's not like every other missionary out here). He is straight from the MTC. He is a great guy and it's been really fun to watch him learn and grow as a missionary. I've already seen a huge change and he has opened up a lot since his first day. I am super proud of him and know he's going to do great things.

This week I have learned a lot about the strengthening and enabling power of the atonement. I think a lot of times people think that the Atonement and Christ's sacrifice was just for us to be cleansed from sin. Which it is and that is a wonderful aspect of it but it is also there to enable us and empower us to do more then what we could do on our own. On Wednesday, Elder Lee and I had just gotten back from Wichita and we were eating dinner. I finished and went into the study room and reviewed the plans we had for the night. As I was sitting there I felt this huge weight kind of come all of the sudden and felt really stressed and overwhelmed and didn't know what to do and I knelt down and prayed and asked for help. And almost immediately all of that went away. It was such a peaceful and powerful feeling. It is hard to describe but we were able to get out and work and everyone that we had planned kept the appointment and they all let us in to our house and we were able to teach and find a couple new people to teach and it turned out to be a great night! Prayer is so real and I'm so very grateful for that experience to help me through and strengthen my testimony of prayer and Jesus's Christ's Atonement.

This week we also had an investigator come to church that has been promising to come since we got here. and he actually came this week! and he liked it a lot! It was another one of those miracles that we were able to see. A lot of these things might seem pretty small but they make a LOT of difference and it's amazing.

I know that our Heavenly Father knows and loves each and everyone of us. He is aware of what we need and will answer every question and every problem that we have. As a mission we memorize and recite D&C 4 every morning and the line "Ask and you shall receive, Knock and it shall be opened unto you" (This line is quoted like 100 other times in the scriptures but I recite this one every morning which is why I am using it haha) has changed my life. He is waiting on the other side of the door and all we have to do is let him in!

Love you all! Thank you for your prayers!

Valentine Miracles

This week has been great. I am officially 19 years old. I can no longer say that I'm the 18 year old missionary any more which definitely has it's pros and cons. It's been a great week. This is my companion's last week during his mission and it's been a great week. We have been talking to a LOT of people this week. It's been a commitment in our mission to talk to 10 new people a day which is kind of hard especially when you have appointments with other people and they don't count because they aren't new but it's awesome because you have to street contact a lot more and there has been a lot of success.

We had zone conference this week and I was able to see all of the people that I came out with which was awesome we have all grown so much and it is really good to see how the mission has changed everyone in this short amount of time. We talked about the Book of Mormon a lot and a talk by Elder Holland that he gave in the MTC called "Feed My Sheep" he is such a great speaker and has so much passion in everything he does.

I'm staying in Topeka this transfer, and my new companion is a new elder. I'm super excited to meet him and we are going to have such a great time here in Sherwood.

Love you all! Thanks for the birthday wishes hope you are all doing great!

Temple Trip

Kansas City Temple

So this week was pretty awesome! It started off great! We went to the Kansas City Temple. It was the best thing that ever happened. On the bus ride there we all read scriptures and prepared for the temple. It was awesome. Such a great experience. and such a great start to the week.

Then we had a bunch of different meetings that we had to go to but we were able to see a lot of cool people this week. There wasn't a bunch that happened because of all the meetings but it was fun! We also were able to see a 495 pound man be baptized. I would like to quote from an elder in my districts letter home. "So, it's the day of Raymonds baptism! Me, Elder Stum, our Ward Mission Leader Brother Groth, and Raymond are all dressed in white and the baptismal service has begun. We struggled to help him down the steps and into the baptismal font. When he was finally in the font we were relieved, but we had no idea what kind of struggles lied ahead. Attempt number one was very unsuccessful. As we tipped him down into the water, for some reason he inhaled and kept his eyes wide open. He started to panic. The look on his face was the essence of fear. So naturally, the moment we heard gargling we brought him back up. That's when we knew we couldn't do this alone. I summoned another Elder, whom is our district leader and is known by the name Elder Ives and the 2nd Counselor in our bishopric whom is known by Brother Ismert. We told them to put some jumpsuits on and hop in! Once the five of us, not including Raymond himself, were in the font we were ready to get this guy baptized. After one more failed attempt, we were more determined then ever! Third times the charm we got this 495 pound man fully submersed! We all smiled from ear to ear and Raymond was now entered into a covenant. Doesn't get better than that folks!"

Love you all!

Miracles!

This week has just been awesome! We had a baptism this week! James Martin got baptized. We have only met him about three weeks ago and he is already a member of the church. His progress has been amazing. It's a personal testimony to me that when we keep the small and simple commitments like reading, praying, and going to church we can change in a heart beat. It was so amazing seeing the light of Christ enter into this man's life and I LOVE IT! Such an awesome miracle that we have been able to see!

This week it rained, and we were on bikes so by the time we were done with our day it had looked like we had just jumped into the pool and decided to go biking around town. It was way fun and surprisingly not nearly as cold as you would expect. We found a couple awesome people and were able to talk to them.

We went on like three exchanges this week with other missionaries because my companion is the District Leader and we decided to get them done in this week. It was fun to have a bunch of companions, a little stressful when you are the only one in the companionship that know's your area. but whatever it was fun to teach with different people.

Last night we were able to go over to a less active part member family. They have two kids that were super close to getting baptized a while ago but the Dad didn't give the parental permission that was needed. but we were able to have a really spiritual lesson with him and he's on board to coming to church and reading the scriptures. It was awesome! They are awesome people and it's amazing how much feeling the spirit one time can change so much!

I love being a missionary and love seeing the light of god's love help people everyday. We are going to the temple tomorrow in Kansas City! So super excited!

Love you all!
