Unending Love; Amazing Grace

Well this is it. My last email home. It's really strange actually, I
don't feel like today is any different honestly. I don't feel like I
am leaving anytime soon. I could stay in Kansas forever, with all the
amazing people, and the magnificent sunsets, it truly is sacred ground
and I will be forever grateful that God trusted me enough to send me
to the best mission in the world. I have loved every second, I have
never been happier and while it's sad to leave and I'm sure it will
only get harder, I am really excited to apply the life lessons I have
learned and find even more happiness!

This week has been such a great week! As always. God is so good! We've
seen some amazing miracles and then I also had some first time
experiences which was fun! I finally had a close encounter with a dog,
nothing like huge but I feel like every missionary has a scary
encounter with a dog so that is nice. And then we had this really cool
experience. Monday night we get this call from the stake Sunday school
president and he wanted us to do a hour and a half presentation on the
history of the church, fundamental beliefs, and how those beliefs
effect how we view life to a bunch of Mason's. So we went and did put
little presentation and then opened it up for questions. And let me
tell you... Wow! I am so thankful for the restored gospel because
their is so much confusion out there! But there was this old man who
was pretty much blind and deaf unless you got super close to him and
shouted, he asked a question having to do with Jesus and I went over
close to him and told him my testimony of Jesus Christ and the Book of
Mormon and how I had come to know. Then the questioning went on but he
turned to me and whispered "if that's really what you believe, you
stick with it" The spirit testified so strong to me of the
truthfulness of the gospel! It ended okay but all i know I was so
mentally exhausted afterward.

This ward that I am serving in now is so amazing! I'm so grateful to
be able to serve around such saints and examples. I will be forever
grateful for the lessons that these people have taught me! Overall I
am just so thankful for my mission, the entire mission experience!
These past two years have been the best and like I said before I'm
extremely sad to be leaving and I'm sure when it hits me for real it
will be even more hard. But if I've learned one thing it's to choose
joy, and I'm excited to choose joy and find even more happiness in my
future. The best is yet to come!

I will be having a homecoming in Rancho next weekend on the 4th at 9
and I will also being giving a homecoming in Provo at the end of
September as well! Everyone is welcome to attend :)

Love you all so much! Thanks for the prayers and the support!

If the Savior Stood Beside Me

Hey hey Everyone!
This week has been SOO good! So many amazing miracles happened I don't think it's possible to fit them all in one email! The Lord is SO good! So first and greatest thing that happened was Prince got baptized!!! The baptism was so spiritual and he brought his two friends and they loved it!

Then there was this family a while ago that was preparing for baptism over in the Sherwood ward and they moved to our ward so that is awesome! They came to church and he should be getting baptized this next week! And we also have Andrea who gave a lesson on family history in Sunday school is also going to be baptized this weekend!! So tons of good things happening! And then Saturday night we got a call from the Lawrence Zone Leaders and they have another investigator that has already met all the requirement for baptism and she is moving to our area! She didn't come yesterday but she will be getting baptized next week! Life is SOOOO GOOD! We are doing tons of finding and it's so cool that the Lord is preparing so many people!!

This week Elder Hilborn and I were reading in 3 Nephi 17 about the Savior's visit to the America's and his dealings with the children! In my studies I have been coming across many scriptures about becoming like a little children. And the spirit has taught me that the Savior wants us to become like little children so He can bless us as he does the little children and have the personal relationship with him as little children do. If you haven't read 3 Nephi 17 in a while I would strongly recommend that you do so! It's amazing!

Love you all Mucho!
-Elder Hunt
Johnathan Lawton is going on a mission to LA and we went to his farewell party. Wasn't it like two weeks ago I was at mine?
We didn't have a dinner so we crashed a wedding (I mean not really crashed because I was invited by someone from Sherwood but we weren't going to go until our dinner cancelled) and they made us take a picture for the guest
Prince got baptized with Jeremy! It was so awesome! Also zoom into Princes shirt. We didn't realize until after the baptism but he said "I wanted to wear my favorite shirt on my favorite day" TOPEKA IS LITERALLY THE BEST

Tupac's Back

This week has been so much fun! Another great week. So many good
things happening up here in Top City! I love Topeka with all my heart!
I am starting my 11th month serving here in Topeka, and it's been the
best 11 months of my life!

This week we got found this kid Prince that the other elders were
teaching but kind of stopped teaching him because he was deaf and
can't really understand everything. So they told us we could go over
since my companion can say kind of sign. We went over and taught the
restoration and he almost fell out of his chair when we told him about
prophets! He came to church yesterday and is set for baptism this
saturday! So exciting!

So there is this funny story. We were eating with these members for
dinner. They are awesome, the netherlands. They are straight from
Africa and came here to Topeka a long time ago and have set up shop
here. They are the best. But Sis. Netherland brought her non member
daughter to dinner and while we were eating they were talking about
her other children and she starts talking about this one son that is a
rapper. Turns out she full-heartedly believes that her son is Tupac
and she started telling us how he is coming back in a year. The
daughter was like rolling her eyes and trying to say no and then Sis.
Netherland went off "What you gonna say, when your brother come home
and he Tupac? Give me a logical answer." and we were trying so hard
not to laugh because she was actually serious. It was the best. I LOVE
TOPEKA!!! So if Tupac is back in the next year... I know his Mom. Also
found out this week that Cobon, who we baptized a while ago is Linda
Brown (from Brown V. Board) step son.

I love being a missionary! We had zone conference this week and it was
so good! I had to give my closing testimony. And that was strange, and
the conference Different for sure because of the new mission president
but it was still super spiritual! Life is going by so quickly... I
can't get over it. I know I say that everyday but every week I swear
it goes faster.

Love you all so much!

Lucky Number 13

Hey everyone! This week has been crazy! I went to my 13th MLC (which
also means 13 zone training, 13 drives to Wichita, 13 MLC Preps etc.),
which was awesome. It was way different than the other MLCs that I
have gone to. It was in the gym this time, as opposed to the primary
room and we had tables instead of just holding every thing on our
laps. It was a super good meeting! We talked about the area book
planner app that we have on our iPad and how to use that most
effectively and how to use Preach My Gospel better. It was different
but super good.

This week I found myself saying "if it's not one thing, it's another"
quite a bit. It seemed like every time we had even a second of time to
work in our area we would get a call from a member asking us to come
help them move or give a blessing, or someone in the zone that
desperately needed a ride, or something of that nature. It was crazy.
We were running around like chickens with our legs cut off. But just
another testimony that the Lord provides when we give it our all! We
saw so many miracles in the small amount of time it was ridiculous. We
found this family that was sitting on their porch and they accepted a
Book of Mormon and then as we walked by back to our car they were
reading it together as a family! It was so cool! And Andrea came to
church again which is awesome, and she is giving a lesson on family
history in Young Women's!!!! She is just waiting for her Dads
permission to get baptized, but we fasted this week for him so we are
excited for that miracle!

This week I have been thinking a lot about having large visions for
ourselves. It's something that I have learned a lot about on my
mission. A vision of who we want to become and what we want to
accomplish. Hellen Keller once said "It's a terrible thing to see and
have no vision". We are Sons and Daughters of God, with unlimited
potential. We were not sent here to fail, but to succeed gloriously
and as we rely on Christ and put our trust in him he can help us
accomplish any vision that we have for ourselves, no matter how big
they might be.

Love you all SOOOO much!

Council with the Lord

What's up everyone!!
This week was such a great week! The Lord sure did provide this week!
He is the best! Towards the beginning of the week there was defintely
a lot of things that didn't exactly happen the way we wanted them too.
We actually had people coming up to us and trying to tell us what we
believed and we were like uhh this is strange. haha but we pushed
through and we refound this kid that we had been teaching a while ago
and he and his sister came to church yesterday and loved it! That was
a amazing miracle! and then there were a bunch of people that were
super interested towards the end of the week!

This week we had interviews with President McCuisition which was super
good! They were different then Prez Bell's interviews, but so good and
the spirit was so strong and testified of his calling! He is such a
great guy!

This week I have been thinking a lot about prayer and how important
that is in our everyday lives. This week I have been trying to have a
"Counciling" prayer every single day where I can council with the Lord
and it's so cool how if we have an open heart and open mind the Lord
will answer our prayers and reveal his will unto us. Our relationship
with Heavenly Father can be as real and prevalent as any other
relationship we have in our lives!

This week is MLC so there is a lot that we are going to be doing this
week so I'm pretty excited for that. MLC week is always super busy and
goes by quick. I swear the days are getting faster and faster.

Anyways Hope you all have an amazing week!

Love you!

"By Small and Simple Things..."

Hey what's up everyone!
This week has been such a great week! So many cool miracles that have happened. We started off the week by taking one elder to the Hospital because he injured himself playing basketball, so I played nurse for the day trying to get this Elder into the car without bending his hip and it was difficult, and then we were sent to the wrong hospital but eventually everything worked out and he is find now. It was a interesting start to the week.

I seriously don't really even know what to say anymore because each week feels like a couple hours. But we were able to see a ton of cool miracles and have a lot of people in our teaching pool. We have been working a ton with the recent converts in the ward to find people and it's been really cool! There is this 10 year old kids that has a friend that we always talk to when we go over and play some basketball which is fun. And a few others.

This week I also gave a talk (that I didn't know I was giving until he announced my name) about Alma 37:6 "...by small and simple things aregreat things brought to pass..." and how the little things in our lives can make the biggest difference. As we choose everyday to make those things a part of who we are, and not just what we do we can have the spiritual foundation needed to overcome anything that is placed in our way. I'm thankful that there are small things to help us accomplish the big things!

Love you all so much!

Kansas = Home 🌪

This week has been so crazy! I don't even know where to start! So we
had the official transfer this week and I am staying in Topeka with
Elder Hilborn! Super excited for the next six weeks (probably 7).
Which is so great, Topeka is the best place in the world. I never
would have thought that I would say that, but it is sacred ground.

Because of the weird transfer there was a trio in the zone and I got
elected to drive down one missionary to pick up his new companion. So
for the seventh time in the last six weeks I made the trek down to
Wichita. So basically I serve in Wichita part time haha  but it was
good. let me tell you the drive down to Wichita is beautiful! The
flint hills are so cool! And we were able to talk about lessons
learned on the mission. It was some powerful reflection!

Then we went on exchanges which was really fun! We saw a lot of cool
miracles and met this one girl that met with missionaries like 3 years
when she was going to Emporia State and she remembered how awesome the
elders were and she went on a church tour and it was super spiritual!
Then we saw a cool miracle in our companionship, last week we
contacted this woman and gave her a book of mormon and we went by this
week and she told us she has been reading the book of Mormon and wants
to be baptized!!! MIRACLE!!!! So awesome!

Then yesterday was out of control crazy! We had church and then half
way through we remembered that we had to bring dessert for a mission
presidents devo! Through some miracle we happened 4 boxes of brownies
and made them as quick as possible! (also note to self: always grease
the pan... or they stick) and bring them. by another amazing miracles
the dinner that we were going to had an extra pan of brownies (GOD IS
SO INVOLVED IN THE LITTLE THINGS haha) and the mission presidents devo
went well! Needless to say it was crazy but everything worked out...
like it always does!

Love you all mucho!

Choose Joy

What's up everyone!
This week has been such a good week! It started off with meeting the
new mission president and his wife on Tuesday! They are awesome! Such
great people and have a wonderful spirit about them. They went through
a slide show of their lives so that we could get to know them!
President McCuistion is from San Bernadino (originally) so that was
cool! It was a great meeting with great energy!

Then Wednesday was MLC, which was so good! It was definitely different
then it has been in the past, but it was a good different. We all came
prepared with sheets to Update the "KWM How To" book (Which is
basically a book with the best practices for the mission and how to
best accomplish certain things!) and it was just a great meeting.
After the meeting President told us that we should go on exchanges
with a certain companionship in our zone so we booked it home to plan
zone training because we weren't going to have anytime the next day.

The exchange went super good! Had some really good experiences and got
to talk a lot about the book the continuous atonement. If you haven't
read that book you should because it will blow your mind. If you ever
have any question about how the atonement can apply to your
personally, read the book! It's amazing! There is quote that I love,
it says "Heaven is not a prize for the perfect, but a future home for
those willing to be perfected".

Then we had zone training and we talked about be consecrated
missionaries and giving it our all, and desperation (always being
desperate for success) and progression and how we can help other
people's progress. It was a good meeting and then we were able to see
some amazing milagros!

This week I have been thinking a lot about the scripture, "By small
and simple things are great things brought to pass". As I was
pondering what I could do during sacrament to be better that scripture
came to my mind. I was thinking about how many times the Lord has had
to teach me that lesson. (haha) but it really is by the small and
simple (Church, Prayer, Reading scriptures, being kind) that the Lord
can make great things come to pass. I know for me it get's easy to put
it off because its so small, but that really is the building blocks of
eternity. Those small simple patterns are how we progress and become
more like Him.

Love you all tons!

See ya later

This week has been such a unique week! But it was really good! As I
mentioned last week our mission president and 20 missionaries went
home this week. Some of my best friends went home which was hard to
watch but it's all good! On Tuesday after we had a zone lunch, Elder
Mitchell and Elder Hilborn and myself road tripped it down to Wichita.
Elder Mitchell wanted to stop in Junction City to say goodbye to some
people since he served there and then we drove to Derby to say goodbye
to people. Then we stayed the night at the Assistants house which was
super fun!

Then on Wednesday we had our farewell transfer devotional. The whole
mission came down to say goodbye, it was like a huge family reunion!
We had our typical folk jam fest (Which we do every time, basically
during lunch we have different missionaries perform songs that they
wrote) and then we had a bloopers real (basically all the funny videos
that have been made) and then we had the actual devotional. It was
very spiritual and sad to say goodbye but hey its all god!

This week COBON DUPREE SMITH WAS BAPTIZED!!!!! It was awesome, it is
so cool to see some one change. When we first met him he was just a
punk smoking on his porch but now he is a member of the true church!
He loved his baptism and Elder Labrum came up to baptize him!
President McCuistion came to the baptism as well and he is the best!
Such a loving guy and has the best spirit around him! So excited for
him!

This week should be another great week, it's crazy how quickly weeks
go by. This week I have been thinking of a quote that Sister Bell used
to say all the time. It comes from a talk by Elder Worthlin it is
"Come what May and Love it!" I think that goes well with finding joy
in the journey, always choosing to be happy and loving life even when
it's hard. It's never supposed to easy, it gets hard but as we love
where we are at the Lord will help us through it!

Love you all!

Happy 3rd Bday KWM

This week has been one of the fastest weeks of my life! This next week

President and Sister Bell along with 19 of my best friends are going

home. And I was hoping that it wasn't going to go fast but here it is!

I'm so sad, but hey change is always a good thing! I have learned so

much from all of these people that are going home and they really have

changed my life forever. I have loved every single moment with them

but it's all good! Now there will be new things to learn! Woohoo!

We have been able to see some awesome miracles! This week this

investigator that we have been working with off and on finally quit

smoking!! We hadn't seen him in like a week and he had quit smoking.

The first thing that he asked us was "when can I get baptized" so he

is getting baptized next week! so that's awesome! Super pumped for

that!!!

This week because of the big group going home its also transfers this

week but I'm staying in the best place in the world, good ole' Topeka!

So excited. there has been a lot of changes in the zone but it's the

best up here! This morning we went for a hike as a zone and had a

testimony at the top (I mean there isn't like a top in Kansas, but it

was super nice! the end was by an abandoned insane asylum but its

really the only place to hike in Topeka) Life is so good!

I came across this quote the other day which has become my favorite.

It's be President Benson and it says "“Nothing is going to startle us

more when we pass through the veil on the other side then to realize

how well we know our Father and how familiar His face is to us” Its so

cool to think that each of us have a personal relationship with our

Heavenly Father. We know him better then we know, and I believe one of

the purposes of this life is re gain that relationship with him. I'm

so grateful to be serving a mission in the best place in the entire

world. I'm so grateful for all the things I get to learn!

Anyways, Love you all!

Attitude of Faith

This week has been such a great week! We have had some awesome
meetings and a lot of driving and some cool miracles. So I guess it
was like every other week! It started off with zone conference, that
was so good! There is a talk called the "fourth missionary" (basically
the four types of missionaries and what the attributes are and how to
be better) and it's such an amazing talk and our mission president
wrote a ending called the "KWM fifth missionary" which is the fourth
missionary plus additional attributes that are all about our culture
here in the mission! I also bore my closing testimony because it was
my last zone conference (which is beyond scary and Weird) and but
thank goodness It wasn't like the end it was just the timing. Then all
the district and zone leaders throughout the mission drove to Wichita
and had this huge meeting! It was AMAZING!

Then we had some cool miracles! We had one of pour investigators do it
so solidly to baptism! She is awesome. we have been teaching her for a
while and she has a sincere desire to know the truth but for so long
was questioning everything we said. There were several times that she
told us it wasn't for her but we finally got down to the root cause
and she knew it was true. It's amazing how much the gospel changes
people, and how when the gospel enters people's lives you can
literally see the light turn on! And then we had this part member
family show up to church again this week! So excited for them!

We have also been doing this thing called working through the
amulists. Which we have been doing for a while but it's been really
good. Basically the amulists come from the amulek plan (which is a way
to fellowship less active members through the active members.; thus an
alma and amulek type story happens) they are just different lists that
are given to us by the ward to contact! It's been so good!

This week I keep thinking about choosing to have an attitude of faith.
It's a concept that has really helped me this week. The power of the
mind is so crazy! Instead of always thinking "I can't not do thi"
think "I can" and while it's such a small change it can make all the
difference. Choosing to believe and have faith and focusing on the
positive over the negative. Also it just makes you feel happier!

Love you all so mucho

Expect the Impossible

Hey what's up everyone!

Hope you all had the best week ever! Best week every out here in the heartland. We got a lot of things done and saw so many miracles! Monday night we drove down to Wichita and we had a meeting in person and it was super good! And then my companion and I got to stay at my old apartment in Wichita with my MTC companion which was super fun! Then Tuesday we had MLC all day long! It was so good! We have this new term in the mission called "leaning forward" which basically means that we are always trying to think of better ways to do things. The term comes from a runner who in order to run his fastest leans forward. (I mean I don't really know all that much about running but that's how it was explained haha) and we talked a lot about what we could do to change and become better. It was such a good meeting with so much revelation that was received! It was awesome! It was also an emotional roller coaster because it was Prez Bell's last MLC which was really sad, but thank goodness this is the Lord's work!

Then we had a few other meetings that we had throughout the rest of the week, we had Stake Coordination with President Avrett who is the stake president here in Topeka! Such a good guy. and then zone training which was super fun! We got to go on exchanges with Elder Mitchell, who is my old comp from Manhattan! That was a blast! A member even took us to Texas Roadhouse! Then we saw a super big miracle! We have been working with this family that recently got married but we haven't been able to contact them in a while. Saturday night we stopped by and two kids were there that we never saw before. Turns out they are her kids from another marriage and they are solid! They came to church yesterday and they are getting baptized on the 25th! They are so solid. After church yesterday they both said they were excited for next week. The ward was so good to them too! It was definitely a miracle!!! This week I also had the opportunity to baptize somebody and it was such an amazing experience! I love the power of the priesthood and am always so amazed that the power of God really is manifest in the ordinances of the priesthood!

This week President Bell told us that every single day we should wake up and "Choose Joy, Choose Faith, and Choose to Expect the Impossible" The spirit testified super strong that nothing is impossible with Christ. We are all are made to do impossible things because we are children of a God!  As we rely on him he can take us places that we could never get alone! He wants us to be happy, to believe in him and miracles will happen! He will make impossible things come to pass! I am so thankful for the blessing it is to serve in Kansas!

Love you all so much!

A quote that was shared with us from President Bell in the June 2016 MLC! He told us to everyday, when we get out of bed to make these three choices that way you wake up happy and ready to accomplish everything the Lord wants for you that day. We then made a picture of it and printed it out for zone training so we could always remember to Choose Joy, Choose Faith and Choose to expect the impossible!!

I would drive 500 miles...

So this week has been crazy busy! So Monday since my companion needed

to be in Wichita a little bit before the transfer, and we had to pick

up another Elder in Manhattan so I spent the entire Monday in the car

driving and then a day later we packed up again and left to Wichita.

Let me tell you Kansas is beautiful. Best sunsets in the world, no

mountains to get in the way! And then we are driving down again today

for MLC, so that should be fun. I can't believe that its already

another month! WHAT THE...

This week we had transfers and I got a new companion (#18) and it has

been super fun! Elder Mitchel is back up in Topeka with me. He was my

previous companion and he is super awesome! We went on an exchange

this week and it was super fun! It was pretty fun!

We were able to see so many miracles this week! All of our people that

are progressing are really trying to overcome the trials that are

placed in their way. Its amazing to see these people push forward so

hard because they want to be better. The atonement is super amazing!

Thank goodness for the Atonement.

This week we had a pretty interesting testimony meeting this week. We

had a recent convert bare his testimony and he used some colorful

language. He explained that since his baptism he has messed up and

isn't perfect and has at times slipped back into his old habits. It

was pretty cool though because afterwards some people from the ward

got up and bore powerful testimony of the atonement, and how no one is

perfect,we all mess up but we can overcome everything through Christ.

The whole time a quote was coming through my mind which is "The church

isn't a country club for the perfect, but a hospital for the sinner".

Love you all so much!

Baptism, Marriage and Tornados (again haha)

So this week was probably one of the most eventful weeks of my entire

life! Another amazing week in Paradise! This email might be a little

bit longer then usual! Hopefully it will also be more exciting as

well! So this week started off with some hectic storms, which was fun.

There are some pictures below. There was one like an hour of here,

half a mile wide and was on the ground for 90 min! Can you even

believe that! So crazy! But don't worry, Topeka is in a valley so the

last tornado to hit Topeka was like 1966. (You can ask just about any

Topekan and they can tell you about it.) Storms are the best! We sure

did get a ton of rain this week, and let me tell you. Kansas lightning

storms are the coolest things in the world! Constant thunder for an

hour with lightning flashing every 2 seconds! It is so amazing, and

because of how flat it is you can have a panorama view of the entire

storm!

We saw some really awesome progression happen with almost our whole

teaching pool which was great! We have still been meeting with Carol,

who now refers to herself as our surrogate grandmother. She is doing

so good, still working on Word of Wisdom but doing so much better then

she was! Even the smallest things in the gospel can change lives! Its

amazing! and then we also played some B ball with our boy Leo, who is

10 and we took another Recent Convert who is 10 and it was super good

and went over the baptismal interview questions with him. He is still

good just waiting for the go ahead with his parents.

And then our family that we have been working with for a while got

married! What the heck! So cool! It was for sure a Kansas Marriage,

but it was super fun! It was pretty stressful getting it all set up

because our civil marriages are pretty different and they had a bunch

of nonmembers show up and was expecting this whole big thing (which we

prepped them and they wanted something small) and it was just in the

relief society room! It was still super good, and now they can get

baptized super quick! Super excited for them with that! It's going to

be sick!

Then we had a baptism, this girl has been meeting with missionaries

for awhile in a different ward but moved into ours with her family

(who just got baptized a few weeks ago) and it was super spiritual!

And I had the privilege to confirm her a member of the Church! Such a

powerful experience! So many people were there and there were a bunch

of investigators! It was awesome! It is so amazing to see this woman

change her life forever! I remember meeting her for the first time

about a month ago and she was clearly not happy, but to see the light

that came after confirming her was something I will cherish in my

heart forever. God is SO good!

This week I have been thinking a lot about decisions. Something that

is big in the mission is making everyday a day of decision. That today

will be the greatest day of your life, you can be happy regardless of

your circumstance, you can choose joy every second of the day. The

only thing that holds us back is our self. Every single day can be a

day that we wake up and say "This is going to be the best day of my

life" and then go out and make it! Gandhi once said "A man is but a

product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes" and that also

leads to to a verse found in Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinketh in his

hear, so is he" I hope we can decide everyday to be happy, choose joy

and make today the best day of your life! I am so grateful for the

atonement of Jesus Christ that makes this possible and that we can

always find our joy in the journey!

Also this week we have another ET (well kinda. transfers are on

Wednesday and my comp is leaving today) so I am going to be in a trio

for a couple days and then get a new companion! My new companion is

Elder Hilborn! My comp is going down to Wichita! so excited for him!

Again can't believe that transfers is already happening again, what a

trip!

Love you all so much! Have the best week of your life!
